Peter J. Erines, Ph D.
University of DePaul, PhD
I am a child and family trained psychologist, but I also work with adults and couples. I received my PhD from DePaul University in Chicago and completed a pre-doctoral internship at South Shore Mental Health.
My approach with therapy is to develop a trusting relationship to address challenging life issues. With regard to clinical work, I include parents in the treatment as expert consultants abut their child and to support positive parenting and empathy. I also focus on behavior management and problem solve effecting parenting approaches. Play therapy is a helpful medium for children to express their feelings and work through issues they are trying to manage, as well as education and developing a tool box of coping skills.
My hope is to be a good listener and to identify clients strengths to holster their efforts in understanding and working through their current difficulties. Facing a life crisis can often be an opportunity for positive change.
