Recent clinical discussions in the medical field have highlighted a new advancement in TMS therapy known as SAINT, which stands for Stanford Accelerated Intelligent Neuromodulation Therapy. As outlined in recent coverage from the American Medical Association (AMA, 2024), this approach represents a meaningful development for patients living with depression who have not experienced relief from traditional treatments. SAINT builds on the foundation of standard TMS but introduces more precise targeting and a high-intensity, accelerated treatment schedule (AMA, 2024).

With traditional TMS, treatment sessions are typically given once per day, five days per week, across a span of 4–6 weeks. The SAINT protocol, however, condenses this therapy into a 5-day treatment model, delivering multiple shorter sessions per day. This “accelerated” approach is designed to produce symptom relief more rapidly (AMA, 2024).

Another significant advancement highlighted in SAINT research is the use of individualized brain-mapping to guide treatment. Instead of stimulating the same location for every patient, SAINT uses data to identify the specific region of the prefrontal cortex that most closely interacts with deeper mood-regulating structures (Clinical Neuromodulation Research Overview, 2023). This matters because depression manifests differently across individuals — precision can influence outcomes.

Early clinical results have shown encouraging remission rates, particularly among individuals who have not responded well to medication or talk therapy (Clinical Review, 2023). This emerging research continues to bring hope and momentum to the mental-health care community.

SEPATMS Now Offers a Modified SAINT Accelerated Protocol

We are proud to share that SEPATMS now offers a Modified SAINT Accelerated Protocol based on these treatment principles (SEPATMS Clinical Update, 2025). Our modified protocol maintains the core benefits of SAINT:

  • Condensed treatment timeline

  • Targeted, individualized stimulation approach

  • Potentially faster symptom improvement

This allows patients access to an advanced, non-invasive treatment option that may support relief from depressive symptoms in a shorter amount of time.

In Closing:

As described in recent clinical discussions (AMA, 2024), the SAINT approach represents a new chapter in TMS therapy — combining precision targeting with accelerated scheduling to support faster and potentially more effective outcomes. Early research indicates that this approach may offer renewed hope for those who have not experienced success with prior treatments (Clinical Review, 2023).

At SEPATMS, we remain committed to providing the most innovative and compassionate care possible. By offering a Modified SAINT Accelerated Protocol, we aim to expand access to treatment options that honor the unique needs and experiences of each patient.

If you or someone you know has struggled to find relief from depression, we invite you to explore whether this accelerated protocol may be a meaningful next step.
